This Marsden Kouma has been hand created as a unique carving from New Zealand Marsden allowing the natural colors & flecks of this stone enhancing this carving even further, it has then been completed with a knotted binding on each side of this breastplate (Kouma) with a fully adjustable brown waxed cord & a polished finish
The pounamu breastplate (kouma) is seen by Māori as a powerful symbol of protection and guardianship and also believed to shield the wearer and provide strength throughout their life. The Kouma is worn over the torso and reflects the concept of (well-being), balance, harmony and represents personal armor and the nurturing of values for future generations, making it a meaningful piece to wear and treasure.
